Pupils at Wootton Upper School enjoy sitting outside during their break and lunch hour to eat their lunches and to talk with their friends. The school has owned a small number of traditional picnic type tables for a number of years; however, the School Parliament has requested that funds be found to provide more seating.
Cllr John Wheeler, representative for Wootton Ward, has used some of his Council Ward Fund money to provide five benches.
The benches came as flat-packs which were assembled by Year 11 pupil Luke Clark. They are being used every day.
Cllr Wheeler said:
‘I was very pleased to make a contribution from my Council Ward Fund to purchase the new benches and give Luke the opportunity to show off his skills in assembling them.’
