Bedford Borough Council is undertaking a comprehensive review of its key performance indicators (KPIs) to better align with its new strategic vision, and the Mayor’s new priorities, after identifying the need for more intelligent and synchronised indicators, that better align with the new Corporate Plan, currently out for consultation.
The Council’s existing KPI’s were designed by the previous Administration, with a different set of priorities in mind and do not fully reflect the priorities of the Conservative Administration.
A rethink of the key measures by which the Council measures its performance will better align people and processes, help to prioritise resources, increase efficiency and ultimately improve services for the residents of the Borough. The need to effectively measure performance in a transparent way, that contributes to success and improvement, is paramount.
Portfolio Holder for Finance & Corporate Services, Councillor Graeme Coombes, commented on the review adding:
“As the Council continues to adapt to changing circumstances and a new set of priorities, so too must the way we measure our success. Effective performance management is critical to measuring success in Local Government and we will look to implement a revised set of KPIs as soon as the Corporate Plan is in place. We remain dedicated to continuous improvement and delivering value for Bedford Borough residents.”
