Cllr Roger Rigby and Cllr Jon Gambold have agreed two new projects which will be funded by their Council Ward Funds. Following the announcement the Councillors said:
‘The first scheme will be to implement a School Safety Zone with a 20mph speed limit on Village Road. This will be in place during hours to be agreed with Bromham Lower School. Both we and the school feel this is the best way forward following concerns raised by a number of parents about the danger posed by speeding vehicles at the school crossing and entrance.
‘The new speed limit will begin from the junction with Grange Lane and will continue until around 25 metres before the entrance to Molivers Lane. New high visibility signage and flashing lights will be activated when the speed limit is in operation. We are hopeful that the new speed limit will be in place by the end of September.
‘The other project will be for the Bromham Lake Nature Reserve. This is a rather under resourced and somewhat unknown gem down by Lower Farm Road. It is a large green space with a lake in the centre created by gravel extraction which finished around the early eighties.
‘Working with Bromham Conservation Group we volunteered to fund this scheme which includes two additional picnic benches, clearing areas to open up views of the lake and the sowing of additional wildflower meadows. We are currently investigating a second phase to fill in the 'missing link' to create a complete walk around the lake.’
