A bus stop in Wilstead has been upgraded to improve accessibility for elderly and disabled bus users as part of the Borough Council’s Bus Stops Improvement Programme.
Following completion of the upgrade, Wilshamstead Cllr Graeme Coombes said:
‘The Bus Stops Improvements Programme is intended to provide improved accessibility to public transport, especially for disabled pedestrians and parents with buggies. In order for this to operate effectively it is essential that the buses can dock with the raised areas to allow seamless access for pedestrians.
‘As a follow up, new bus stop road marking works were due to commence on 16th February 2015 and the Borough Council is aiming to complete all works within 6 weeks. I am hoping that Wilstead bus users will notice the benefits immediately.’
