Harrold Ward Conservative Councillor Alison Foster visited Bedford College today to present a £30k cheque from the Connolly Foundation charity to help engineering and construction apprentices with their expenses.
Cllr Foster joined Connolly Foundation Trustee Andrew Rowe in handing over the cheque to Bedford College Principal Ian Pryce. Each apprentice will be able to apply for up to £500 to help with the costs of tools and travel.
The Connolly Foundation is a Bedfordshire based charity that provides grants to assist with the care of the elderly and in helping young people with the costs of gaining new skills and qualifications.
Cllr Foster said:
‘I was delighted to present the cheque to Bedford College alongside Connolly Foundation Trustee Andrew Rowe. The apprentices are receiving high quality teaching in impressive facilities and they are learning new skills that will benefit them significantly in their chosen industries. This money will go a long way towards assisting them with their costs as they progress towards the beginning of their careers.’
