Cllr Alison Foster held the latest of her Community Safety Forum meetings yesterday evening (19th November). These meetings give residents of Harrold Ward’s villages an opportunity to hear from and question local agencies.
Attendees heard from Bedfordshire Police officers with regard to local policing issues and the recruitment of new officers. A representative from Bedford Borough Council also talked about the plans in place to deal with flooding in the villages which was of particular interest given the problems experienced in recent years.
In addition, Alison explained the role of the Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) and described the Village Agents scheme. Village Agents can visit residents in their home to discuss and offer advice on matters such as housing, pensions, transport and support for carers.
Cllr Foster said:
‘The Community Safety Forum is a great opportunity for residents in Harrold Ward and local agencies to come together and discuss how we can improve life in the villages. We regularly hear from bodies such as Bedfordshire Police, the Borough Council and local charities so I would encourage anyone with an interest in their local community to attend.’
