Harrold Ward Cllr Alison Foster has welcomed changes made by the Santa Pod Raceway to reduce noise and traffic but she says there is still more to do to respond to residents’ concerns.
Cllr Foster Chairs the Santa Pod Liaison Group which meets regularly with residents and the management of Santa Pod along with officers of Bedford Borough Council. The Group discusses noise and traffic issues resulting from the increased number of events in recent years.
Since the Liaison Group meetings started the management of Santa Pod have taken steps to ensure that event and early morning engine noise is restricted and they have also increased security at the site during events. In addition they have provided specialist training for their Road Marshalls at the junction of Airfield and Hinwick Roads.
Despite the progress, residents in the surrounding villages such as Podington, Hinwick, Souldrop and Odell are still disturbed by noise from music at the larger events on the site and Cllr Foster will be raising this issue at forthcoming meetings.
